On June 23rd, 2004 we placed an ad in the Daily Progress. The ad was also placed in the July 1st editions of The Hook and The Tribune, as well as in the August 2004 edition of Echo. The text of the ad reads:
“We are people of faith who believe in the sanctity of marriage. We believe society should encourage people to live in loving, stable, committed relationships. We believe that such relationships between two adults, whether of the same or different genders, are sacred relationships, and should be recognized in law and respected by all.”
The text is followed by a list of over 400 people who have signed the ad and a list of the faiths represented: Buddhist, Church of England, Disciples of Christ, Episcopal, Jewish, Lutheran, Metropolitan Community Churches, United Methodist, Peaceful Way, Presbyterian, Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), Roman Catholic, Unitarian Universalist, United Church of Christ, Unity, and unaffiliated.
